Heart Chakra

As part of my podcast, A Waking Moment, I'm sharing about the energy centers of the body, called Chakras. Podcasts are amazing and so fun to produce and share with everyone. I also enjoy the written word, and since I create outlines and notes with resources for each episode, it dawned on me that I could make it a blog!

Each chakra has a unique energy and purpose, yet there is something so profound about exploring the heart! Our society and several industries profit from the connection and desire of the heart—everything from candy, cards, nicknacks, clothing, books, podcasts, and many more objects. The heart is often associated with romance, love, and relationships. We are bombarded with images, sounds, scents, and memories of the heart. Some can add to your life force, and others cause us pain and may even trigger us into emotional unbalance.

The 4th Chakra, the Anahata chakra, is present within us and offers us the opportunity to experience pure unconditional love and a safe space to feel our emotions. So, how do we allow ourselves to discover more and deeply connect with the Heart?

There is so much information on the Heart Chakra but I wanted to focus on a few that are easy to bring into your daily life and will support you in expanding the energy center.

How to use

Element - Air

Take extra time to notice the air as the wind on your face or the fresh inhale. Notice the breath - inhale, exhale.

Color - Green

Do you like green? If so, what shade of green is a favorite? Do you shy away from green in food, clothing, or decor? Discover your relationship with the color green.

Shape - Crescent Moon

Crescent moons can be beautiful, glowing in the night sky, but they can also be associated with witches. For some, that's a blessing. For others, it might bring up fear.

Birth Right - To love

Humans are born with inherent rights, and love is one of them. You can love yourself as well as anyone or anything you like. Give yourself permission to love!

Physical Associations - Heart, lungs, circulatory system, arms, hands and Thymus gland.

Notice these organs and body parts - are they healthy? Do you spend time appreciating them?

Planets - Venus (lunar, feminine), Sun

Venus and the Sun are powerful planets. Venus is often said to represent the inner feminine and the Goddess of Love. The Sun is the light that sustains our galaxy and our planet.

Sense and Scent - Skin/Touch; Jasmin, Lavender, Rose

Have fun playing with forms of touch (self or another). You enjoy soft, light touch or deep touch? What if you added an essential oil? Notice your first thought about Jasmin, lavender, and rose.

A Few Short Practices:

  1. Closing your eyes, imagine that you've entered a room that is so lush that it invites you to sit or lie down. It can be any color and have any objects that support you in experiencing heart energy. There may be music playing, the sound of water gently flowing, or an image of someone you love—a person, place, or animal. Breathe this in. And stay as long as you want.

  2. For those who connect with mothers as nurturing, kind, loving and accepting, I offer this to you: Invite in the Divine Holy Mother. She is the one with the sacred heart, a kind smile, and open arms waiting to love you, hold you, and create a safe space for you to feel and be. As you feel, see or sense this Divine Holy Mother, ask her to create a secure and loving bubble within your heart. Once she has done that, step inside the bubble. Now you can feel the emotions and give them an expression. She will transform them into pure light, and you and your heart will be blessed.

  3. If you enjoy vibration and frequency, tone the Heart Chakra sound, LAM. Allow it to grow and play with the sound. You can even hum it within you. This sound/tone activates the heart chakra and sends energy through your entire body.

There are affirmations you can say to stay mindful and encourage a deeper relationship with every chakra, including the Heart Chakra.

I am open to love.

All love resides within my heart.

I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

I nurture my inner child.

I am wanted and loved.

I live in balance, in a state of gracefulness and gratitude.

I love the beauty of nature and the animal world.

I forgive myself.

I am open to love and kindness.

I am grateful for all the challenges that helped me to transform and open up to love.

I am connected with other human beings.

I feel a sense of unity with nature and animals.

I accept things as they are.

I am peaceful.

All Love,

Dani
